Often drawing comparisons to the heady hip-hop of Rakim, Chuck D, KRS-ONE and Nas, West Coast gangsta rapper Ras Kass issued his debut Soul On Ice (referencing Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver's 1968 book of the same name) on Priority Records in 1996. His intricate yet eloquent rhymes touch on everything from the bible to conspiracy theories to corruption to the pitfalls of the hip-hop life and are brilliantly buoyed by catchy, lush beats throughout. Continuing with its vinyl reissue campaign UMe will be reissuing this cult classic back on the format for the first time in 20 years!
